Whitney Ward
CWRU BSTP Student

Whitney received her Bachelor’s degree in Biology with a molecular and cellular concentration from Kent State University. During her time at Kent, Whitney worked in Dr. John Johnson’s lab exploring interactions between the nervous and immune systems. She continued to work under Dr. Johnson’s guidance and completed her senior honors thesis project researching the effects of amygdala activation and corticotropin-releasing factor on locus coeruleus and norepinephrine activity. She joined the Clayton lab as a Neuroscience PhD student in Neuroscience and is thrilled to contribute to better understanding glia cells and how they contribute to pathological phenotypes. Outside of the lab, Whitney enjoys being around her family, camping and staying active.
