Braison Liemisa
Research Assistant

Research Assistant/Neuroscience & Behavior Vassar College

Braison did his Bachelor’s degree in neuroscience and behavior at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY. He spent his spare time there mentoring and tutoring high school students from low income, first generation and underrepresented backgrounds. After Vassar, Braison spent some time working as a Senior Research Assistant in Dr. Paul Mathews’ lab at the Nathan Kline Institute (NKI) for Psychiatric Research in Orangeburg, NY. There, he conducted in vivo and in vitro experiments to understand the role of apolipoprotein E genotype in endosomal pathway dysfunction and exosome secretion in mouse models of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases. He then transferred to Regeneron Pharmaceuticals’ Neuroscience Therapeutic Focus Area as an Associate Scientist. During his tenure there, he helped to develop and optimize assays for the detection of Friedrich’s ataxia deficits in in vitro and in vivo models. Braison plans to attend medical school in the future and enjoys working out, biking and playing football (the real football) in his spare time
